Junior football under 10’s

Under 10’s Coaches 2016

Coaching Coordinator Craig Richardson

I have enjoyed 12 years playing senior football and the last 9 years coaching and coordinating with the juniors at Pascoe Vale. I take great pleasure in seeing the development of young people in both sport and social skills. Sports clubs are a great place for families and we will continue to improve our program each year with greater input from all. I am now in my third year as a coordinator and each year I am finding that there is still a lot more to learn for all of us.

A-Side Coach Sam Scollo

Hi, my name is Sam Scollo. I have been associated with Pascoe Vale Football club for 5 years. I began as a parent in the Auskick program, then moved into the Auskick coordinator position for two years then followed through to my present role as under 10’s coach. I had played football as a young boy in East Brunswick, then moved on to A-Grade amateur footy at North Old Boys. I am a secondary school teacher, and have coached for 26 years. I have had the pleasure in recent years of coaching the senior girls’ team, which recently made the Herald/Sun Shield final. I am loving my role at Pacco with the young pups, and have rediscovered the joy of playing for fun, which is unfortunately forgotten at times at the senior football level. I of course acknowledge my great assistant coach Joe Ciccarone, who shares my passion and love for the game and the kids. I also thank the efforts of the club’s administration, which is striving to achieve sustained success on and off the field. I look forward to 2016 with great anticipation and wish all the teams’ great success.

Sam Scollo.

B-Side Coach Michael Said

As a second year coach I look forward to having the privilege of teaching kids new skills and developing a team spirit where the kids enjoy the game whilst making new friends and playing a team sport. I will endeavour to make the game a fun sport to play where the kids want to play and be involved. We will train twice a week and play on Sunday’s , whilst we take the game seriously and want success the most important aspect at this level is that we have fun and spend time with family and friends. I look forward to coaching your boys and girls in 2016! Go the panthers!

Coaches Review: What a wonderful season the young Under 10 Division 2 panthers had. The numbers were really strong this season, which meant quite a bit of work for my very capable assistant Joe Ciccarone, trying to balance the positional rotations and time allocation. Our main objective was to build upon the solid start many of the youngsters made in 2014, and with the addition of the experienced and bigger bodied division 5 players we had a great side in the making. The grading games left us at 2/2, but the EDFL decided to keep us at division 2 which was always going to be a challenge to our young side.  The season began well, with games being won and lost by close margins. We continued our tradition of winning on Mother’s day, with an epic battle against Avondale Heights on their home ground in appalling conditions. The games continued to be close, and we unfortunately lost quite a few games by margins less than a goal, which would ultimately cost us a spot in the finals by one game. I was incredibly proud of all the players who gave their all and continued to improve each and every week. We congratulate Antonio Spataro as our best and fairest player along with the whole team, in the way they and the parent body has conducted itself throughout the season. I thank each and every parent for their assistance, support and encouragement, but most importantly the replication of strong family values and good sportsmanship.  I hope the future continues to shine brightly for this group of young Panthers, and that they continue to love and develop in the great game of Australian Rules.

Regards Sam Scollo.

Coaches Review: I was fortunate to be accepted to coach the under 10’s div 7 side, after several weeks of pre-season we needed another coach for the second under 10 team so I decided to put my hand up for the position . After speaking to Richo he said yes that would be great and from that point forward the support he gave me because I had never coached before was just fantastic, so I would personally like to thank him for that.Once we broke the kids up into the 2 teams I began to train and get to know my team and what a great bunch of kids they were. We all grew as a group from me being a first time coach and nearly all of my kids never playing competition footy. So the journey began for us all , for me as coach it was a huge experience and honour to be involved with a group of kids that were keen to develop their skills and the parent support was also very much appreciated . Our skills were very rusty and we lost several games at the beginning but to win our first game and be able to sing our club song was the most rewarding thing to be able to share as a team.We then went on to win 3 games for the season and finish 7th on the ladder. There will be memories of this team that will stay with me forever.I would like to thank Darren my ass.coach and Peter my runner for their continued support and help throughout the season and all the parents for their support and especially all the boys and girls of our team for being a part of our club.

Thanks Michael Said
